Eclipse “Dig” for Gold at 15 U Challenge Cup

Etobicoke_200x133February 12, 2011. With the volleyball season over halfway through, Eclipse Volleyball Team was off to their third 15U “premiere” tournament which was hosted in Etobicoke. The team had aspirations of a big win to defend their #1 provincial ranking and even though the day had some challenges, they achieved the results they were looking for.

The first match of the day put Eclipse up against DRVC. These teams had not competed since their first 15U tournament back in November so they weren’t sure what the outcome would be. The first game lead to a tie 14-14 and DRVC wanted a win. They came back, but too little, too late and Eclipse won the first game 25-18.

Eclipse Reigns Silver at 16U Challenge Cup

Sutton-200x133January 29, 2011 from Sutton.  There are rare opportunities to drive just over an hour to feel the temperature drop 10 degrees... so why not do it for a great day of Volleyball Competition!  With the Team anxious to exit the Championship division and enter the Premiere division, we all knew that this would be an exciting tournament. The cold air in the cafeteria got the girl’s pumped enough to defeat their first opponents, Northumberland Breakers, in 2 straight games; 25-10, 25-13. We saw some fantastic serving in both these games which was a huge part of their success.

A Silver Lining for Eclipse at 15U Mcgregor Cup

Brock-200x133January 15, 2011.  With the middle of January upon us it seemed like a great idea to head south to a tournament in St. Catherines. With a snow storm on the horizon we were all up early to get there ahead of the snow and wind. With only a few teams delayed due to the winter weather, everyone was ready for another great day of Premier volleyball.

The first match of the day saw Eclipse against Toronto West. Eclipse got off to a sluggish start but Toronto West was ready to go. It was an early lead for them 4-0 and Eclipse didn’t look back. The game had numerous penetrating serves by Eclipse that didn’t allow Toronto West to start an offense . Eclipse earned the win 25-15, 25-22.

Eclipse Take Bronze at 16U McGregor Cup

January 8, 2011 - Bomanville

Bomanville_200x133As a snow storm engulfed the GTA, the Eclipse Team trekked into bright and sunny Bowmanville for another exciting day (and evening) of competition.

The first game against Selects Green was a tough one of dual sided errors which kept either team from taking a commanding lead. Eclipse began to excel with strong hits. The Selects retaliated with one strong defensive dig after another, which once again narrowed the gap. The result was a 25-20 win for Eclipse. Unfortunately, in the second game the girls struggled to return some offensive hits by the Selects which lead to a disappointing loss of 12-25.
